Evo II, The Simrac S40
Utilizing the experiences gathered from the Evo I it was time to build the Evo II of Simrac rally simulators, The Simrac S40. It was made from a Volvo S40 gotten from Volvo´s factory in Sweden with the help of Autoyhtymä J.Kovanen.
The Evo II was modified to resemble a rally car inside out, as was the Simrac Micra, and it was also fitted with a rollcage. As the technology had swiftly gone forward it was possible to add features to the motion platform. The Simrac S40 moved 30 cm up-down, front-back and the rear end could move 70 cm a side when in a rear end slide.
PC computer games were still used as a software, the best of it's time being Codemasters Colin McRae Rally -series.
With the Simrac S40 we toured around Finland and Europe for several years and got a lot of fond memories from those times. Even so it was time to move forward and the Evo III was knocking at the back of the mind. Before moving to ”simulator graveyard” the Simrac S40 was later modified to use the Simrac´s own Ouninpohja software made by Mr. Pajarre.
